Work for plants

I am a one-person operation with another parttime job, so I can really use help here. This is your opportunity to earn $10 per hour toward plants by donating your time doing things that need to be done in the nursery You can pull weeds, repot plants, clean walkways, deadhead flowers, water pots and beds, label plants, haul potting soil, prune dead wood, rearrange displays, make plant labels, etc. You keep up with your earnings and redeem them for plants whenever you’re ready.

Enjoy Nature

My backyard nursery is filled with opportunities to observe the wonders of nature. The plants and trees and stream bring in all kinds of butterflies, bees, birds, frogs, lizards, turtles, and dragonflies. The flood plain is home to beautiful white lilies after a rain. Bring your camera and enjoy the show. I even have a swing set with a slide to help entertain your children if they don’t prefer to dig in my buggy of potting soil and help me plant things.

Attend a Meeting or Class

September 19, Saturday: 10:30 AM —12:30 PM Cheyenne Yates of Among Oaks and Owls will present a program “From Backyard to Medicine Cabinet: Local Plants for Everyday Healing” Cost $35 See more information and register at amongoaksandowls.com. Limited to 10 participants inside; but outside the nursery will be open as usual. You can also follow her on Facebook. Cheyenne uses her knowledge of plants to offer classes and plant walks. She is presenting this program for a second time here due to popular demand, so be sure to register early

We’ll explore how healthy soil, pollinators, native plants, and growing our own food all connect back to nutrition and overall well-being. Our gardens provide so much more than food. They are living ecosystems that nourish our bodies, support our communities, and connect us more deeply to the natural world.

The upcoming 15th Annual Fall Native Plant Sale takes place October 9=10,. 2026 at the Mimsie Lanier Center for Native Plant Studies, featuring a member preview on October 8 and public sales on October 9–10, 2026.
